When a retired actress who once appeared in Australian TV dramas, becomes ill, her mad son Alex copes by escaping into the fantasy that he is living in the shows that his mother once appeared in. Set in 1997, when late night TV included repeats of classic Australian drama and countless infomercials, Alex begins stalking the streets of Melbourne at night as a hard nosed alter ego. He haunts underground and queer nightclubs and becomes transfixed on a drag queen called Miss Chrissy who is also leading a double life.
